JUACEP Academic Presentation Skills

 

Course Purpose

This course introduces participants to basic skills and techniques for achieving success in academic presentations in international collaborative research.  Emphasizing interactive presentations typically conducted in academic settings in the US, this course provides participants with practical experience using tools and techniques for developing effective presentation skills. Once participants are familiar with the basic concepts, processes, tools, and techniques in successful academic presentations, they give a short presentation based on their current research. These will be shared in a final presentation series.

Course Topic

Modules include: 1) Introduction, 2) Experimental, 3) Results, 4) Discussion, and 5) Conclusion and Complete presentations. Tools and techniques include, among others: engaging the audience, overcoming nervousness, transitions, ppt basics, clarifying, and responding.

Grade Assessment

Evaluation (A, B, C, D) is based on preparation, participation, assignments, and presentations.
